Harbinger Unveils Plug-In Hybrid Platform for Medium-Duty Fleets

Harbinger has introduced a first-of-its-kind plug-in hybrid for medium-duty vehicles, expanding its American-made EV lineup to support longer-range fleet operations. The series hybrid delivers up to 500 miles of range by combining an electric drivetrain with a gasoline-powered range extender.

“Some fleet needs go beyond what all-electric systems can support,” said Harbinger CEO John Harris. “Our hybrid delivers electric performance with the added confidence of extended range.”

The platform features a 1.4L gasoline engine, 800V generator, and 50-gallon tank that recharge a 140 or 175 kWh battery, powering up to 440 horsepower and 1,140 lb-ft of torque. DC fast charging enables 80% battery capacity in under an hour.

Harbinger’s vertically integrated chassis is suited for delivery vans, box trucks, RVs, and emergency vehicles. It includes all major systems and is delivered to upfitters for customization. Panasonic Energy supplies the battery cells, with future sourcing planned from its Kansas facility.

The hybrid platform is already being adopted by THOR Industries for next-gen RVs. Harbinger plans commercial deliveries in 2026 and recently launched an IRA Risk-Free Guarantee, ensuring customers receive federal tax credit benefits under the Inflation Reduction Act.
